Having a lean body is a thing that everyone wants but few succeed. There are many people who just wish to have a lean body but do not take any practical measures to achieve this goal. Then, there are people who take measures to lose body fat but do not succeed. For the later lot, following are the four reasons you might not be losing body fat.
- Eating too many calories
Most people have no idea how many calories they need and how many calories they are taking. If you are taking more calories than you are spending, you are not going to lose weight no matter what you do. You can walk for 10 kilometers per day and spend an hour lifting the weights, but that still is not going to help if you are eating more than what you are spending. It is a good idea to calculate your caloric intake and expenditure at least for a couple of weeks.
- You are eating too much carbohydrate
When you calculate and make sure that you are eating fewer calories than you need, which you must in order to lose weight, it is time to monitor your calories. Eating more protein and good fats helps you lose weight while eating too much carbohydrate doesn’t.
- You drink the wrong sort
While drinking adequate water helps lose body fat, drinking soft drinks, beer, and alcohol does not. These drinks are packed with calories, and that too without any nutrition.
- You do not do intensity training
When you eat fewer calories, there is a good chance that your body will slow down your metabolism to save calories, which is not what you were looking for. To force your body to spend calories, do intensity training. This can be sprints, chin-ups, or lifting weights in the gym.
