When it comes to eye care, most of us limit ourselves to a diet rich in vitamin A and beta-carotene. Few of us actually take the time to search for eye care exercise. In fact, eye exercises can have a profound effect on our eyesight. You should beware of false claims though. There are many claims of getting rid of glasses with eye exercises in X number of days, but such claims have never been proved.
By doing eye exercises, however, you can delay the onset of eye weakness and glasses. Do the following exercises to keep your eyes relaxed and sharp.
- Focus
Focus your eyes on an object around 20 feet away. Keep them focused for around 20 seconds. Now bring your focus to an object around 10 inches away from your eyes, and keep your eyes focused for around 20 seconds. Do this exercise for 2 minutes.
- Palming
Palming is an exercise to relax your eyes. To do this, sit on a chair. If your hands are cold, rub them so that they become comfortably warm. Now, close your eyes and placed the palms of your hands on your eyes. Do not apply high pressure, just enough to relax your eyes. Do this exercise for 3 minutes.
- Massage
Like the massage of any other body part, eye massage increases blood circulation in the eyes. With clean hands, place your fingers on your closed eyelids and gently massage the eyeballs. Make sure that the pressure is very light and feels very comfortable.
- Hot and Cold Towel
Dip one towel in warm water and one in cool water. First, close your eyes and place the warm towel on your eyes and face. After three minutes, remove the warm towel and place the cold one. Once again, make sure that the towels are not very hot or very cold. This exercise will stimulate the skin of your face and around eyes.
